our story

Bapa was founded by Nana and Stephanie, two passionate creatives with a love for sharing culture and connecting with people. With years of experience in the hospitality and cultural sectors, they created Bapa—a coffee bar where quality, creativity, and community come together.

They met while working in the cultural sector, where they instantly clicked over their shared sense of humor, strong work ethic, and passion for food. Over time, they discovered surprising similarities in their family histories, despite coming from different backgrounds. Nana’s Maluku roots come from her father, while Stephanie’s Vietnamese heritage is passed down from hers.

After years of working together, they were ready for a new adventure—one where they could bring together everything they had in common. That’s how the idea for Bapa was born: a coffee bar infused with Maluku and Vietnamese influences, designed to be a creative space where people can connect, share ideas, enjoy great music, and indulge in delicious food.

They quickly agreed on the name, as they both wanted to pay tribute to their fathers and their heritage. "Bapa" stands for "father" and is inspired by the words they grew up hearing in their families. It reflects their deep connection to their roots and honors the generations before them, shaping the heart of Bapa.
